This Is Not a Test!

My dad recently posted this on Facebook. I'm re-posting here because I think he's right, and I'm the one with a blog. Anyway, I'm sure both our names our on quite a number of lists by now, so what's the harm in continuing to talk? Without further ado, here's my Pop.

Do not criticize Obama's reforms!I've said over and over again that folks need to read Orwell's 1984 again, right now.

Now we have the Executive Branch of the Federal Government encouraging citizens to report anyone who expresses any opinions differing from theirs concerning the President's plan to remove freedom of choice and privacy from our healthcare system.

If you don't want the Feds telling you what medical treatment you may have and if you don't want Big Brother knowing the private business between you and your doctor, Obama wants to know about your independent attitude, and he is asking your neighbors to narc on you; to rat on you... to fink on you.

It's right there on the White House's website: "Facts are Stubborn Things".

It's the nazi-fication of America. Open your eyes, this Presidency is a cruel hoax.

Here is the Law that Mr. President is Violating:
According to 5 U.S.C. § 552a, United States agencies, including the Executive Office of the President shall, "maintain no record describing how any individual exercises rights guaranteed by the First Amendment unless expressly authorized by statute or by the individual about whom the record is maintained or unless pertinent to and within the scope of an authorized law enforcement activity." (RedState.com)

This is so unconstitutional that it prompted US Senator John Cornyn to write the President, demanding that this illegal information-collection program cease immediately:
"I am not aware of any precedent for a President asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed 'fishy' or otherwise inimical to the White House's political interests," Sen. Cornyn wrote. "You should not be surprised that these actions taken by your White House staff raise the specter of a data collection program. As Congress debates health care reform and other critical policy matters, citizen engagement must not be chilled by fear of government monitoring the exercise of free speech rights."

Hey, I've got an idea! Why not report this post to the White House? The official address they give is: flag@whitehouse.gov. If you don't like the idea of the US Government illegally keeping a list of "fishy" citizens, I suggesting flagging a few sites every day. And forward any piece of spam you get to flag@whitehouse.gov! This is ridiculous.

One more thing I found interesting: an AARP town hall meeting where the old folks just won't take what their given. They seem to think it's the retired individuals that give the AARP its power and the citizens that give the government its power, not the other way around. These old coots haven't had the benefit of our modern public schools. They should know it's the government/military that grants us our freedoms, and "inalienable rights" is just outdated jargon from the revolutionary days. Koff*baloney*koff!

Update: This little "report anything fishy to your friends in government" program is by no means isolated. Just take a look at this article from the Recession Ready America blog or the related Prison Planet (Alex Jones) article, which goes into more detail as to why this sort of thing is a bad idea, citing several other programs currently running in parallel. In short, just re-read 1984 and watch some World War II movies. Enough with that idea that's been floating around that comparisons Hitler and Nazi Germany should be completely ignored! Can you see how dangerous that idea is?
